BreathID System -- 13C-based Breath Testing

Exalenz Bioscience markets its BreathID Breath Test System for disease diagnosis and management. The System detects the presence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), the bacteria associated with peptic ulcers and gastric cancer, through a 13C-urea Breath Test.

The 13C Urea Breath Test is a well established method to detect H. pylori and is highly endorsed by different gastroenterology and medical societies as the test of choice for initial detection as well as for post-treatment testing . It is  based on the measurement of the delta over baseline (DOB) detectable in a patient’s breath, before and after the ingestion of a low dosage of 13C labeled urea dissolved in water or orange juice. The test is non-radioactive and completely safe. In fact, the human body contains around 9 grams of urea.

The BreathID Breath Test System has been used for many years outside the U.S.. See publications on H. pylori with the BreathID System in peer reviewed journals.
